CAPTAIN BAGRAT MEDIA PRODUCTION
ABOUT US
Captain Bagrat Media Production (CBMP) started in November 2019 as a passion project and launched as a grassroot podcast highlighting Asian + Australian lifestyle and pop culture, while featuring stories and people with Asian, Australian and Asianish heritage. The podcast was founded by JJ Chen and featured Liam Frappell as the first guest who then became a permanent cohost.

The media platform has since expanded to a news site in early 2021, supported by a team of passionate and enthusiastic students from universities across Sydney, all with a story to share. In 2022, our Creative Internship Program is supported by the City of Sydney to help young and diverse creatives gain industry experience to spring board to their dream media career.

In 2021, our TV Pilot Show was a top 10 finalist for the ABC iView Pitch-O-Rama contest. The concept founded by JJ Chen, mentored by Dr Helen Vatsikopoulos, award winning journalist, academic and lecturer in journalism at UTS; and brought to life by creative producer, Mayu Iwasaki, co-founder of Bubbletent Australia and actress, and Director Lenny Fung, who has worked on major Australian dramas such as Amazing Grace, Doctor Doctor, Home and Away, The Secret Daughter, and Studio10 Morning Show.

In 2022, CBMP officially formed a tech team to revolutionise online shopping with AI called MAICBUY. See it. Tap it. Buy it. The concept was conceived from The Studio Founders Program in late 2021 and underwent Blackbird Giants Program in 2022. Right now, the cofounding team are pitching left right and centre at VCs, angel investors and accelerator programs.

During our evolution, one thing remains the same - Our Mission. We continue to deliver light hearted, relatable and human centric lifestyle perspectives for a cohesive Asian + Australian community.
CBMP is proudly sponsored by the City of Sydney's Matching Grant 2022 + Creative Fellowship Program 2021, Bendigo Bank - Darling Square Community Bank, The Studio Founders Program, the Bright* Program as part of the Lendlease Community initiative, Haymarket HQ start up hub and Aperion Law.
