A BAGRAT ANNIVERSARY

Updated: Jul 13, 2022

November is a special month for the CBMP team. This November marks our two year anniversary since launching the first grassroot podcast featuring the ever knowledgeable co-host, Liam Frappell and driven by a formidable media team, special shout out to Dr Helen Vatsikopoulos, Mayu Iwasaki, Lauren Montino and the wonderful Merenia Marin for facilitating to what we have become today.

What we do at CBMP is out of passion to represent Asians in mainstream Australian society. Our work and progress is mostly dependent on the good will of over 50 creatives, volunteers and interns.

We continue to deliver light hearted, relatable and human centric lifestyle perspectives for a cohesive Asian + Australian community. All our contributors toward news, productions and operations share the same Vision, to celebrate and embrace our collective cultural heritage. Be proud of being Australian with Asian heritage. Be proud of being any race with an Asian language or interest in Asia, which makes you uniquely Asianish.

We have come a long way in the past 12 months from just a podcast series. It would not have been possible without the support of individuals and organisations from the Asian Australian, and Australian community. There is so much to celebrate and even more people to thank for their continued support in believing a project concept that was yet to be visualised. With more than 50 creatives, volunteers and enthusiastic interns on board in the past year, here’s a recap of a well serving community project bringing out the best in Asian Australians and anyone interested in Asia!

❇️ Finalist, 2021 ABC iView Pitch-O-Rama for our tv pilot panel show, Enter the Bagrat. The final cut is less than 2 weeks away and we're already in discussion with major broadcasting networks.

❇️ 2/3 crew representing diverse Asian Australian heritage.

❇️ 50:50 gender equality and inclusion of LGBIT+ community.

❇️ In Oct 2020 and March 2021, CBMP ran two successful Internship Program consisting of 21 students from UTS, UNSW, USYD, Macquarie University and SAE Institute Australia. These students gained work experience and mentoring from industry experts in podcast and network production, as well as journalism and social media. Some have spring board into full time roles at The Guardian, Newscorp, ABC, Westpac, community radio stations, contractors for CBMP and more.

❇️ Selected for The Studio Founders Program 2021. CBMP underwent a 7-week start up incubator program to develop a media tech product concept across streaming providers.

❇️ Launched a digital multimedia website with contributions from the internship program.

❇️ Sponsored by the City of Sydney ‘Creative Fellowship’program 2021, Bendigo Bank - Darling Square Community Branch, Bright* Program as well as other corporate in-kind support.

So, what is in store for 2022?

We have a long wishlist for another ambitious 12 months and continue to provide more opportunities for young creatives from diverse background, not only in Australia but further afield. Stay tuned #maybeUSA
